My new article on Pagan+Politics, inspired by the American Family Association's demand to stone a killer whale and SeaWorld Orlando's curator, deals with the issue of projecting ancient law codes into the present. You can find it here.

A Life
I am a 52-year-old Minnesota Heathen living in self-exile in the land of Hoosierdom. I was born at the US Naval Air Station in Port Lyautey, Morocco, where my father was stationed while serving in the USN. I am a 1993 graduate of Hamline University in St. Paul, MN, where I gradued summa cum laude in 1993 with degrees in history and philosophy. I work as a freelance writer and am the founder of Mos Maiorum Foundation, a non-profit educational foundation dedicated to the revival of ancient ethnic religion.
What is a Heathen?
Interesting question. One I get asked a lot. We're not devil worshippers, that's for certain. For one thing, there isn't a devil; it's just a monotheistic construct and has nothing to do with me. I follow the customs and traditions of my Norse ancestors. That's the easiest way to say it. I therefore honor the gods of my ancestors and the spirits of hearth and nature. If you want to know more, you'll have to visit me at A Heathen's Day and you can get caught up there.
